The University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the Central Region has been ranked the best University in Ghana.
UCC has also been ranked the first University in West Africa and the fourth best University in Africa.
The University of Cape Coast earned the coveted spots in the 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings.
In the Rankings sighted by www.africanentertainment.com on its official website, Times Higher Education says: The World University Rankings 2023 include 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.
It said “The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.”
According to Times Higher Education, “This year’s ranking analysed over 121 million citations across more than 15.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 40,000 scholars globally. Overall, we collected over 680,000 datapoints from more than 2,500 institutions that submitted data.
Trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments and industry experts, this year’s league table reveals how the global higher education landscape is shifting.”
UK’s University of Oxford topped the ranking for the seventh consecutive year. The Harvard University in the US remains in second place.
The University of Cambridge moved from fifth in 2021 to third.
