Ukraine’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate said Saturday her country could not achieve peace by “laying down its arms” against Russia, as she accepted her award at a ceremony in Oslo.
“The people of Ukraine want peace more than anyone else in the world. But peace cannot be reached by a country under attack laying down its arms,” the head of Ukraine’s Center for Civil Liberties (CCL), Oleksandra Matviichuk, said. “This would not be peace, but occupation.”
