Follow us live as America chooses between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Polls have closed and counting is underway in most of the key swing states in the US presidential election, with several battlegrounds too close to call.
Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump, who have been embroiled in a relentless campaign for more than three months, have been polling within the margin of error against each other in most major national and swing state polls, making tonight’s result impossible to confidently predict.
So far, no swing state has been called for either candidate. Trump has won more states, including electoral vote-heavy Texas and Ohio. Harris carried many northeastern states and her home state of California.
Trump has already issued non-specific claims of “cheating” in heavily Democratic cities, allegations that local officials have vigorously denied. His words have raised worries that the result might lead to protests and legal challenges similar to those that followed his loss to Joe Biden in 2020.
Tonight, we will bring you real-time results as they come in from across the US. Don’t forget to also check out news and features on our election hub.
