TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 30. Uzbekistan
and Turkmenistan have reached an agreement to implement an
electronic permit exchange system known as E-permit, Trend
reports.
The heads of the transportation ministries of both countries
announced this decision during a working meeting.
The Center for the Study of Problems of Transport and Logistics
Development, part of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, and the
Turkmenavtoulaglary Agency, part of the Turkmenistan Cabinet of
Ministers, presided over the meeting.
The parties discussed challenges faced by Uzbek national
carriers when transporting goods through Turkmenistan and proposed
solutions to these issues.

As a result of the meeting, an inter-agency working group will
be established to address transportation problems efficiently.
Starting in 2025, fees and payments will be collected on a parity
basis between the two nations.
To note, trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
totaled $805.4 million from January through August 2024. This
figure increased by 55.78 percent compared to the same period of
2023, when the trade turnover amounted to $517 million.
Turkmenistan has landed in the sixth spot on the leaderboard of
trade turnover with Uzbekistan’s biggest trading partners for this
year.
