On Monday, Jackson told Entertainment Weekly that his home in Topanga Canyon on the eastern edge of the Pacific Palisades had been destroyed by the Palisades Fire, one of several blazes that erupted last week and have so far claimed 24 lives and ruined 12,000 homes.

“First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK,” said Jackson in a statement obtained by the publication. “My daughter, my family, my neighbours all made it out safely. Sadly, my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”
Jackson had a deep attachment to the $2 million home. He lived there until the age of eight, when his parents divorced and he moved with his mom and siblings back to Vancouver. He later attended Kitsilano Secondary School.
When Jackson’s career took off after his role on the television series Dawson’s Creek, he bought the home and has lived there ever since.
Vancouver-born actress Cobie Smulders, who went to Lord Byng Secondary School in Point Grey, also lost her home in the fires.
Other Hollywood stars who have lost houses include Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Anthony Hopkins, Paris Hilton, Eugene Levy, Miles Teller, Candy Spelling, and Tina Knowles.
