After a two year break, Walthamstow Forest Pride will be making a return on Saturday 20th July on Fellowship Square where they’ll be boasting a catalog of morning and evening events celebrating LGBTQI+ pride.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, celebrations have been put on hold since 2019. However, organisers are promising that this year will be ‘the greatest LGBTQI+ celebration the borough’s ever seen.’

The series of exciting events will take place at Fellowship Square, a new public space named in honour to borough-born designer William Morris. The landmark square – which is larger than Trafalgar Square – is centred around a new fountain, which is more sustainable and cost-effective than the original water feature.
The square is set to be publicly opened on the 15th July before Waltham Forest Pride takes place, whereby local children will uncover the contents of a time capsule placed under the stairs of the town hall in 1938. They will replace it with a capsule of their own not set be unveiled until the year 2121.
On EventBrite, they posted the following statement: “After a two-year hiatus, Waltham Forest Pride returns on Saturday July 30. Bigger and better than ever, WFPride 22 promises to be the greatest LGBTQI+ celebration the borough’s ever seen.
“Beginning at 12noon and running until 8pm in Fellowship Square (Town Hall), there’ll be community and food stalls, a picnic, speakers, and top cabaret performers plus much, much more.
“We can’t wait to welcome you to WFPride! It’s going to be rainbow-tastic! Don’t forget to pop the date into your diary and save your tickets on your phone. You will need your E-Ticket on entry. Please don’t bring alcohol into the site as plenty will be available on site – our alcohol licence depends on this.”
The event is free to attend, but you must register for tickets. Tickets for Waltham Forest Pride can be bought here.
