WPSD Local 6’s weather team has activated a Weather Authority Alert for Sunday evening, as another threat for severe storms will arrive for the end of the weekend.
The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our area to a level 3/5 “enhanced” risk for severe storms. The time frame to watch will be Sunday 6PM through Monday 3AM…this subject to some adjustment as we get closer to this event.
All types of severe weather impacts will be possible, including a threat for damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes. There is some uncertainty as to what types of storms develop. The most likely scenario is a line of storms just ahead of a cold front, which would lead to a damaging wind threat being the main concern. Any isolated supercells that form ahead of this line would pose a greater threat for a tornado and large hail.
Be ready to be weather aware Sunday evening, and have multiple ways to receive warnings if they are issued. Stay with us through the weekend for more updates.
