Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan says the state is one of the “most vaccinated jurisdictions in the world”.
“As I’ve said before, Western Australia is now in a new phase of the pandemic, but there is no reason for alarm; it’s a phase we knew was coming,” Mr McGowan said.
“And Western Australia has a major asset as we stare down this new phase of the pandemic; the people of Western Australia who’ve done the right thing, followed the health advice, stuck to COVID-safe principles and, most importantly, Western Australians have rolled up to get vaccinated.”
He said the state reached a “major vaccination milestone” with a first dose rate for those aged 12 and over on Friday hitting 98.3 per cent and the second dose rate sitting at 94.2 per cent.
