The weekend of 12-14 August saw widespread violence instigated by the “Jalisco New Generation Cartel” (Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) as a means to intimidate and influence the actions of the government to free their members currently incarcerated or in general custody.
TIJUANA
The cartel issued a warning that they had declared a curfew from 2200 hours (10 PM) Friday through Sunday 0300 hours (3 AM) and warned citizens to stay off the street, as they “do not want to hurt good people.”
The U.S. Consulate General issued a warning to all U.S. government personnel in Tijuana to shelter in place and to not depart their residences during this period of violence.
On Sunday, 14 August, the Consulate General rescinded their advisory, though they did provide specific guidance.
