Giannis Antetokounmpo is enduring a nightmare season on the Milwaukee Bucks, who are being urged to tear it all down.
When Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to win the NBA title, it looked like it could be the start of a dynasty.
Milwaukee have been unable to come close since, despite making trades to try and add support around Antetokounmpo, and they are now at their lowest point.
Early into the 2024-25 season, the Bucks are 2-8, with their 0.200 record only better than the 2-9 Toronto Raptors.
Giannis Antetokounmpo to Brooklyn Nets claim made
Giannis Antetokounmpo has appeared visibly frustrated, in games and in interviews, and Milwaukee now find themselves in a tough spot.
Despite ringing around the NBA, they are finding it tough to execute any more trades, because they have no assets.
Paul Pierce recently suggested Antetokounmpo make a ‘league breaking’ move to the Thunder, while Bill Simmons has suggested the Brooklyn Nets as the most likely option.
Simmons predicted the Nets could be the surprise team to pay up, due to their current competitiveness, and the vast number of picks they have available, that would allow Milwaukee to rebuild.
Zach Lowe responds on Antetokounmpo to Brooklyn
NBA expert Zach Lowe has responded to the suggestions Brooklyn could get involved in the Antetokounmpo market, should an opportunity present itself.
He believes it would be a tough sell for the player, and while he does not rule it out, he explains why he feels it would be a challenging trade to make work.
Lowr writes on X: “Issue w/ Brooklyn in any potential one star trade is the “who’s left for me to play with?” problem when the star gets there.
“That star would have to a) not care and/or b) trust the front office to trade for or sign another star/more quality players in short order. Possible, but tough.”
Lowe also alluded to the notion Milwaukee are not currently planning to trade Antetokounmpo, but warned they may not be able to avoid the ongoing speculation if they do not improve.
He added: “MIL surely isn’t ready for any of this, but the noise won’t stop if they keep losing (and it has looked bad).”
