With Pitso Mosimane having recently signed an extension with Al Ahly, the president of fierce rivals Zamalek has made a shock admission regarding the South African’s contract negotiations.
Ex-Al Ahly Player Warns Club Over Mosimane
Mosimane and the Red Devils were involved in a long, drawn-out discussion over a new deal for the former Bafana Bafana coach before finally agreeing to a two-year extension in March.
During that negotiating process between the two parties, there were rumours Zamalek had entered into talks with Mosimane, and Mortada Mansour, the current Egyptian Premier League log leaders’ sporting director, has now addressed the speculation.
Speaking to ONTime Sports, the Zamalek chief said: “Mosimane’s agent approached us through a middleman, she said there are problems with Al Ahly and, as an agent, she was looking for potential jobs for Mosimane.”
If Mansour’s claims are to be believed and Moira Mosimane, Pitso’s wife and agent, had been trying to orchestrate a move for her client, then it would have arguably been the greatest act of treachery in Al Ahly’s history, with the two sides contesting one of Africa’s most volatile derbies in the form of the Cairo Derby.

The man they call “Jingles”, however, came to a compromise with the reigning African champions and now looks to lead them to a third successive CAF Champions League final appearance following a commanding 4-0 win in the first leg of their semi-final clash against Algerian side ES Setif.
It has not been smooth sailing in the EPL, though, as they trail Zamalek by eight points, leaving them in third position on the table, but Mosimane’s men do have three games in hand over the Royal Club.
Zamalek relieved Frenchman Patrice Carteron of his duties earlier in the season and were looking for a replacement, but instead of the two-time FIFA Club World Cup bronze medallist in Mosimane, Mansour and company obtained Portuguese tactician Jesualdo Ferreira’s services instead.
