15 Best Affordable Family Getaways Near Manila for Every Kind of Family

Your next adventure may be closer than you think! This guide features the top 15 spots for affordable family getaways near Metro Manila! These nearby trips are perfect for balikbayans, guests, OFWs, and remote workers coming home to the Philippines. Spend more time with family without booking another flight.

10 Popular Affordable Family Getaways Near Manila

1. Tagaytay – For Cool Weather and Family Meals

The first thing that made me like Tagaytay was the cool air. It hit me as soon as we got out of the car. We stayed at Lake Hotel Tagaytay, making the trip more exciting. By Taal Volcano’s Lake, my family settled at an outdoor table and shared a warm bowl of bulalo with rice. We also bought buko pie to take home.

The trick to spending less here was to visit on weekdays. Choose only one extra special restaurant meal.

2. Antipolo – For a Quick Art-Filled Day Trip

Our Antipolo trip began with a walk through an art museum. We saw paintings and walked through gardens and open spaces. We took lots of pictures while we rested, then ate suman with coconut sauce. We even brought home roasted cashews. We left Manila early so we could have more time to explore before the afternoon traffic.

3. Tanay – For Waterfalls and Mountain Views

Tanay was so relaxing from the moment we arrived. I remember hearing the sound of rushing water before we even reached the falls. The cool water felt refreshing, while the shaded picnic areas gave us a place to rest and eat. We had fried chicken, sliced fruit, and hot coffee in a flask. We checked the trail before our visit because some parts can be rocky and slippery. It was a simple but enjoyable trip.

4. Pansol and Calamba – For Hot Springs and Family Reunions

Our stay in Pansol felt like one long party for my family. The kids had fun at the pool. The adults cooked barbecue and pancit for lunch. Everyone sang their hearts out during karaoke time. We didn’t have separate hotel rooms and decided to share one private house. It was such an experience!

5. Nasugbu – For Beach Swimming and Sunset Meals

Nasugbu is one of my favorite destinations for afternoon swimming and building sandcastles. We had grilled fish, rice, ripe mangoes, and cold drinks by the shore. The sky changing colors was a sight to behold. We booked a simple inn within walking distance of the beach.

6. Calatagan – For Beach Camping and Stargazing

My family found Calatagan to be a real outdoor adventure. After putting up tents near the beach, I watched the kids go shell hunting where the water was shallow. At night, we ate grilled fish and salted eggs with tomatoes. We saved costs because we brought our own supplies.

7. Anilao – For Snorkeling and Sea Life

I fell in love with Anilao because I got to go snorkeling with my family. Even before putting on my snorkeling mask, I could see small fish in the water. It was so clear! After swimming for a while, we warmed up with bowls of lomi and cups of kapeng barako.

By the way, to save, we also chose a package that included lunch and boat use.

8. Subic – For Wildlife and Bay Walks

Subic stood out because everyone in my family found something to enjoy. We visited a wildlife attraction, explored the bay at sunset, and had grilled food for dinner. Mango shakes were our yummy dessert.

We booked a hotel outside the busiest tourist area. It included free parking and breakfast. We paid for only one major attraction, then enjoyed free activities such as walking by the bay.

9. Bataan – For History and Mountain Views

Bataan gave us a taste of history and fun. We discovered Mt. Samat, its history, and its magnificent views. It was memorable, even for the kids. The following day, we had eggs, tinapa, and hot choco for breakfast. We stayed near the main site instead of driving across the province. This saved fuel and gave us more time to rest.

10. Silang – For Garden Cafés and Farm-Fresh Food

Silang, Cavite was a calming vacation. Once my family entered a garden café, we were welcomed with the fresh greenery. The kids enjoyed the open space while the adults shared conversations as they walked together. We also had fresh bread, pasta, salad, and cups of local coffee there. I love that Silang costs less than some places in central Tagaytay.

5 Underrated Affordable Family Getaways Near Manila

11. San Pablo – For Lakeside Biking and Local Snacks

One of my favorite memories in San Pablo was exploring around Sampaloc Lake. Some of us walked while others rented bikes. We took photos and enjoyed the view of the water. After that, we bought espasol, buko juice, and rice meals from a local shop. It was a relaxing trip.

12. Liliw – For Shoe Shopping and Laguna Treats

Liliw was smaller than our usual destinations, but very lively. I walked past rows of colorful shoes and slippers with my family when we visited the old church nearby. We compared styles and bought the ones we liked best. For merienda, we had warm bread with kesong puti and shared some espasol.

13. Jala-Jala – For Farm Life and Lakeside Sunrises

Jala-Jala gave us one of my favorite quiet mornings. I woke up early to watch the light spread across Laguna de Bay with my family. Children walked around the farm while adults prepared breakfast outdoors. We ate grilled tilapia, salted eggs, and rice. Since stores were not close to our stay, we brought food and water from Manila. Choosing a small farm stay didn’t just cost less but also made the trip memorable.

14. Talisay – For Taal Lake Views and a Slow Pool Day

Compared to Tagaytay, Talisay was a quieter Taal Lake adventure for me. The quiet lake view made our family lunch feel peaceful and unhurried. My family spent the morning swimming in the resort, then had lunch facing the lake. We ordered fried tilapia, veggies, and yummy buko juice. Plus, we packed fruit and drinks for the children since it’s allowed.

15. Maragondon – For History and a Riverside Picnic

I love that Maragondon gave us a mix of history and nature in one day. We visited the Bonifacio Trial House and learned a bit of Philippine history. After, we found a quiet riverside spot for a picnic. We brought pancit, boiled eggs, rice cakes, and bottled water. Most of the day was spent at free or low-cost places.

Quick Airfare Tips for Balikbayans Planning a Getaway

  • Check the final fare after adding baggage, meals, seats, and payment fees. The lowest base fare may not offer the best total price.
  • Start checking flights once your travel dates are fixed. Fares often rise around Christmas, Holy Week, summer, and school holidays.
  • Review the baggage limit before booking. Buying extra baggage ahead of time may cost less than paying at the airport.
  • Avoid taking a long road trip as soon as your flight arrives. Give your family time to rest and recover from jet lag.
