That noise you heard was a sign of relief coming from New York as the Brooklyn Nets received some excellent news. The Kevin Durant trade saga has officially come to an end as he and the team have decided to continue their partnership for this NBA season.
After weeks of trade speculation, Durant isn’t going anywhere, for now. A meeting was held on Monday that included him, his business partner Rich Kleiman, head coach Steve Nash, general manager Sean Marks and owners Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai and things were hashed out.
In a statement released by Marks, he let it be known that the focus for everyone is now on basketball. They all share a common goal, which is to bring a championship to the franchise and the city of Brooklyn.
It took a little while to get to this point, and things got contentious at times, but the air has been cleared and they are moving forward. The Nets, with Durant and Kyrie Irving committed for the 2022-23 season, have the pieces in place to contend for a championship.
