1. She was appointed by Barack Obama to the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability
She joined in 2010 and was very integral to developing their Money as you Grow initiative.
2. She served as an advisor to the Sesame Workshop financial education initiative, with Elmo
Her 2011 appearance on Sesame Street helped broadcast a valuable lesson about financial literacy. She was praised by Forbes because of the important and underutilized lessons for kids.
3. She has sold more than 500,000 copies of Get a Financial Life
Her original book came out in 1996 and was recently released in a fifth edition as her practices have stood the test of time.
4. She was a staff writer for Money Magazine
She has also contributed to financial outlets such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, CNN, and PBS NewsHour.
5. She developed a free financial literacy curriculum specifically for New York City high school students
Beth has partnered with the Heckscher Foundation for Children to create a 10-lesson personal finance curriculum designed for 11-12th grade students. It’s in over 60 New York City high schools.
