Hellen Wendy’s Parents Land at JKIA from Canada with Her Remains Ahead of Burial

The body of Hellen Wendy, a Kenyan who passed away in Canada after drowning, has arrived in Kenya.

The young lady’s remains landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at around noon, accompanied by her parents.

Moments before Wendy’s body passed through customs, a hearse from the Lee Funeral home arrived, ready to transport her body to the facility.

Reporters and Wendy’s friend camped outside the arrivals section for hours, awaiting their arrival.

Speaking to the press, the deceased’s father, John Kiyondi, said they had an uneventful flight back home. He admitted that the process of repatriating her body was a long one, but her friends in Canada stood by them.

“We thank all Kenyans in Canada who helped us with processing documents. Other Africans were also present and they really helped us.”

Mzee Kiyondi disclosed that her body would spend the night at the morgue before being transported to Bomachoge, Kisii county, early Sunday morning.

He said that they had set Wendy’s tentative burial date for Monday, October 3, but it was subject to change.

“We have not confirmed the burial date. We will have to reach home and sit down with family before deciding when she will be buried.”

the distraught father added that they will not conduct a postmortem in Kenya as her cause of death had been established to be drowning by Canadian authorities.
