A large slip blocked a Wellington street after a weekend of wet weather.
Birdwood Street in the suburb of Karori was covered in debris early on Monday morning and cars had been unable to get past.
The street is one of the key routes in and out of the suburb.
A reporter at the scene said the hillside slip had spread across almost the whole road.
