Western analysts believe Vladimir Putin could be further tempted to take a “nuclear course” in the war on Ukraine following a truck explosion that tore a hole in the bridge to Crimea from Russia, says Sky News host Chris Smith.
“His army is being annihilated at every level,” Mr Smith said.
“Previously, the Kremlin warned that any attack on the Kerch Strait, which this 19-kilometre bridge and parallel rail line crosses, would be a red line, they said, and it would trigger ‘Judgement day’.
“Overnight our time, the UK Telegraph reported that Putin convened an emergency meeting of his Cabinet.”
Mr Smith said it’s “uncertain” as to who may have triggered the explosion.
