Event organisers in Western Australia are staring down the barrel of losing millions of dollars after the state government chose to extend tough restrictions to January 4.
The rules mean the mask mandate and hospitality restrictions will remain – closing all night clubs and banning large music events.
No new local COVID-19 cases were detected today – just days away from New Year’s plans.
Chris Bausor, owner of Bar Pop – a company which runs popular dance parties and music festivals in Perth – says its devastating for the industry.
He estimates the blow could cost between $1 to $2 million from Christmas eve to January 4.
