Current Olympic weightlifter Joshua Iannotti is representing Team USA at the FISU 2022 American Games in Merída, Yucatan, Mexico this weekend.
The Lindenwood graduate student is one of only two athletes in the 96kg weight class selected for the U.S. squad. This will be his first international competition.
Competition in 11 different sports including chess, basketball, judo, futsal, volleyball, table tennis, weightlifting, football, taekwondo, and archery began on October 15 and will continue through October 25. Iannotti will compete on Sunday beginning at 5 p.m. CDT.
There are 13 different countries represented at the American Games including Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Dominican Republic, United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Colombia, Uruguay, El Salvador, Brazil, and Guatemala.
