Moses Kuria Announces East African Countries Will Bid to Host 2027 African Cup of Nations Tournament

Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has announced Kenya’s motive to bolster other East African counties in seeking to play host to the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

The CS made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday, November 29, moments after following a World Cup match between England and Wales.

Push for Afcon-hosting rights

He was in the company of his Sports counterpart Ababu Namwamba and Jane Marriott, who is the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Kenya.

Kuria marvelled at their engagement with Marriott, who shared with them the rudiments of hosting such a prominent tournament as Afcon.

“Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia and South Sudan will jointly bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027. Tonight we received valuable tips from the UK High Commissioner on the sidelines of the England-Wales WC Match,” said Kuria.

The continental football challenge has not been hosted in any of the nations in the East Africa region before.

In the meantime, Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo believes the Cabinet Secretaries holding dockets in President William Ruto’s government are unsettled.

In a plenary sitting on Tuesday, November 29, the legislator claimed that the CSs have lately been depicting zero cohesiveness, with their lack of synchrony clearly playing out in public.

She said that the leaders ought to put their house in order before engaging the National Assembly on other pertinent issues.

“Madam Speaker, before we get here where we want to talk about regulations on Hustler Fund and all that. Can this government first have cohesion in terms of its own policy and in terms of the work of the case?

You can’t just have people jumping up like popcorn, a CS for Labour talking about sports the one for sports…very soon, we will have a CS who is not in charge of this fund talking to us about it,” Millie jokingly explained.

Citing a tweet from a concerned Kenyan, the vocal leader claimed that work needed to be done if the government needed to deliver to Kenyans.
