A young primary school pupil from Baringo county has stunned Kenyans after showcasing the website he built.

TechLit Africa teaches boy to build website
Bowen, a beneficiary of TechLit Africa run by CNN Heroes nominee Nelly Cheboi, explained the website’s features.
He showed some of the website’s features, including the hyperlinks and the code he wrote.
“I am the one who designed it,” he proudly said in the clip.

Kenyans were amazed by his grasp of coding and reacted by saying:

Cheboi told TUKO.co.ke that Bowen’s teacher Elysee introduced basic HTML, and the boy developed a keen interest.
“Three days after he learnt about HTML he showed up to school with three pages of handwritten HTML code on his book ready to try on a computer.”
The teacher contemplated introducing the more advanced CSS to code websites’ colours, layouts, and fonts.
“A few days later he saw that Bowen had a different background colour on his page. He was also showing his classmates how to do it.”
The teacher learned that Bowen used his sister’s phone to retrench how to write the code.

“Now Bowen has his website live for anyone to learn from them. We are constantly impressed by him and super honoured to play a small part in his story.”
Nelly urged Kenyans to vote for her as the CNN Heroes award before voting closes on December 6.
Nelly Cheboi’s rise
The only non-American nominated for the CNN Heroes award, Nelly shared her humble past from the daughter of a mama mboga (vegetable vendor) to impact hundreds of young lives.
The former toilet cleaner reflected on how she went from poverty to making millions as a software engineer.
TechLit Africa is a non-profit that teaches children in numerous primary schools in Mogotio, Baringo county, coding and computer literacy.
