Blackpool have signed forward, Morgan Rogers on loan from Manchester City until end of 2022-23 season.
Rogers’ loan move to Blackpool sees the 20 year-old forward spend a second consecutive season on loan in the Sky Bet Championship, having scored just one goal in 17 appearances for Bournemouth last season as the Cherries clinched promotion.
This season though sees Rogers face a difficult task, with the Tangerines currently sat 22nd in the second-tier and battling against relegation, although he reunites with manager – Michael Appleton who was in charge during his time at Lincoln City during 2020-21 season.
Speaking about his decision to move to Bloomfield Road, Rogers said: “The Club has been interested in me for a while now and I really can’t wait to get playing. I’ve worked with the gaffer previously and this move goes hand-in-hand.
Rogers will be eligible to make his Tangerines debut at home on Saturday 7 January, as Blackpool host Nottingham Forest in the Third Round of this season’s FA Cup, with the striker excited to impress the home crowd.
Explaining why he is eager to impress Blackpool fans, Rogers commented: “The fans here are great and I’m looking forward to playing in front of them and showing them what I’m about.
“I’m a player who likes to get the crowd off their feet, I like to be free and expressive with the way that I play. I just want to show what I’m capable of now.”
Appleton added that he expects Rogers to fit in quickly given their previous experience at Lincoln City, as he said: “Morgan is a player I know very well from the time I worked with him at Lincoln. The quality that he’s got will be there for everybody to see.
“He’s got a physical presence, he scores goals and he gets assists. The fact he knows how I want to play and how I do things is a bonus.”
