The Milwaukee Bucks are always going to be one of the top teams to watch as far as NBA title contention goes with Giannis Antetokounmpo in his prime.
They could make an acquisition ahead of the NBA trade deadline to maximize their outlook. The options are small for the Bucks regarding possible trade scenarios. They moved a lot of assets to acquire Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans and only have a few young players with strong value.
However, there is still an outlook on acquiring a veteran contributor from a rebuilding team looking to gain assets.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Bucks made a trade offer to the Rockets to acquire Gordon involving four second-round picks. The deal is similar in structure to what they did in February 2019 to acquire Nikola Mirotic from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Remember in February 2019 when Milwaukee sent four second-round picks to New Orleans as part of a three-team trade to acquire Nikola Mirotić? The Bucks are said to be trying the same approach in their trade pursuit of Houston’s Eric Gordon, pitching four second-rounders to the Rockets in various scenarios. League sources say Houston continues to seek a first-round pick in any Gordon deal.
Gordon isn’t having a memorable season, but he’s still been solid. He’s averaging 12.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 29.7 minutes per game. The efficiency he’s scored with hasn’t been great, as he’s shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and 34.8 percent from 3-point range.

Gordon has been stuck on a rebuilding Rockets team, with the team holding an asking price of an unprotected first-round pick for quite some time. There isn’t much reason to take on a contract of that size while parting with such significant value for a 34-year-old shooting guard.
Gordon’s ability to make an impact as a spot-up threat with the Bucks, both with catch-and-shoot jumpers and aggressive drives off the catch is helpful. He can also do some initiating in the half-court by running some high pick-and-rolls. Acquiring him would make Milwaukee a more versatile offense.

There have yet to be many trade targets linked to the Bucks, but they have been tied to Cam Reddish. The New York Knicks will likely move on from him at the NBA trade deadline before he reaches restricted free agency. The other teams linked to him include the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
