South Londoner Joe Aribo can tick off scoring in a major European final but the night ended in defeat for Glasgow Rangers.
The Camberwell-born midfielder put the Scottish giants into a 57th-minute lead at Sevilla’s Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium.
But Eintracht Frankfurt ended up lifting the Europa League title as they prevailed 5-4 on penalties.
Aribo, who joined Rangers from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2019, had been substituted in the 101st minute.
He had not scored from 24 shots in the Europa League prior to a slip by Frankfurt’s Tuta which allowed him to break through and sidefoot past Kevin Trapp.
Aribo gets one last shot at a trophy this season with Rangers facing Hearts tomorrow in the Scottish Cup final.
