Pay-TV network Optus Sport has secured the Australian broadcast partnership for the Uefa Euro 2024 soccer championships.
The deal with European soccer’s governing body will see Optus Sport air every match from next summer’s tournament in Germany via its linear channels and streaming service.
The subscription service was the Australian broadcaster for the delayed Euro 2020 tournament and enjoyed strong viewership figures. Italy’s victory over England in the tournament final was the most-watched live sports stream in Australia, drawing almost one million viewers.
Optus Sport has built its offering around soccer, with a rights portfolio that also includes the Premier League, the English top-flight Women’s Super League (WSL), as well as the upcoming Women’s Euro 2022 and the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which is being hosted by Australia in tandem with neighbouring New Zealand.
