Georgino WiJnaldum has agreed a three year deal with the La Liga side Barcelona according to reports. Wijnaldum looks forward to joining his Netherland boss Ronald Koeman after he was appointed as the new manager of the Spanish club.
The Netherlands midfielder is willing to switch sides to Spain despite he is a key player in the Merseyside reds. The discussion between the two clubs has begun according to reports. The same report said Barca is prepared to offer a maximum of £18million for Wijnaldum. The 29-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Liverpool. And there is no sign of contract extension to remain in the club on his table.
Wijnladum has been one of the key successes of Liverpool after he missed only one game in their premier league season. He helped Liverpool win the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. And also played a major role in the champions league semifinal against Barcelona. He scored two goals for Liverpool which saw the Merseyside trespass to the final of the competition after humiliating Barca 4-0 in the second-leg. The team went ahead to win the competition. Wijnaldum also did well to help Liverpool win the premier league title this season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has completed the signing of Miralem Pjanic, but are not satisfied with the signings. Ivan Rakitic and Arthur have left the club for Sevilla and Juventus respectively. Arturo Vidal also looks promising to leave the club as well.
Wijnaldum’s exit to Barca will boost the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich. He has been the one target for Liverpool and the reds are the only club closer to his signing. But they are yet to bid for the 27 years old as Bayern are only ready to let him go for £27million. Reports also said Manchester united has joined the race to sign Alcantara.
Barca’s new coach will be happy to welcome WijnaLdum as he has known his pattern of play as his midfielder in the Holland national team.
