A week after being named one of the world’s best beaches, a bay in Ireland got a visit from two enormous and undesired guests.
Beachgoers at Keem Bay were stunned at the emergence of two basking sharks just a few metres from the shoreline in the middle of July, 2021.
The curious sharks swam down the beach as crowds of swimmers stood and watched in shock.
The second-largest sharks in the world, basking sharks are harmless to humans, using their enormous mouths to feed on plankton.
As their name suggests, basking sharks enjoy swimming leisurely at the warmer surfaces of the water.
