With the Premier League starting in less than two days with Burnley hosting Manchester City at home, various pundits have come out to name their predictions. Amongst them, Gary Neville has predicted Arsenal to win the 2023/24 Premier League with Manchester City coming a close second.
The 2023/24 Premier League season was an intense competition between Arsenal and Man-City from start to finish. And despite the fact that the North London club led the league for 248 days, they failed to win it. Man-City eventually won the treble last season, winning the Champions League and FA Cup along with their Premier League trophy.
Per tradition, the community shield was played between Manchester City (league winners) and Arsenal (runner-up) just before the start of the season. Arsenal won the game on penalties after playing 1-1 in Normal time. The North London club beat Manchester City for the first time since July 18, 2020, in the FA Cup Semi-finals. A run stretching the eight games across all competitions.
Speaking via The Overlap show, Gary Neville said that he doesn’t think Liverpool will be challenging for the league with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City. “I don’t look at Liverpool at the moment and think, ‘Wow, they are going to be challenging Arsenal or City for the league,’” the former Manchester United man said.
He also added that Arsenal has been very intentional with their signings and is best placed to win the league. “They (Arsenal) have shown real intent with the signings they have made. I am going to go Arsenal to win the league, [Manchester] City second. I think Arsenal can beat them,” Gary Neville said.
Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Arsenal has reached an agreement to sign David Raya from Brentford. It will be Arsenal’s fourth transfer in the window after completing the signings of Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.
