Charlton Athletic could be set to hand former Coventry City defender Fankaty Dabo a contract.
The Addicks agreed undisclosed terms for Mandela Egbo to sign for Colchester United yesterday.
And Southwark-born full-back Dabo, 27, has been training with the League One club.
Nathan Assimwe has started the campaign as first choice on the right of the backline but the Addicks will need cover and competition in that area.
Dabo has been a free agent since leaving Coventry after their Championship play-off final defeat to Luton Town. The former Chelsea youngster, capped at England U20 level, missed from the spot in sudden death.
Dabo was one of seven players released by the Sky Blues after they failed to reach the Premier League. He made 152 appearances for them.
Charlton are also in the market for a striker with Miles Leaburn and Chuks Aneke both missing the start of the campaign due to injury.
