Not too long after reuniting with former Sixer Danny Green, the Philadelphia 76ers appear to still be in the hunt for some roster tweaks ahead of training camp in preparation for the looming 2023-24 season, which is just a month away.
Just yesterday, the 76ers announced that they have officially signed David Duke Jr. to an Exhibit 10 contract, giving him a chance to sneak into one of the team’s roster spots in training camp. As things currently stand, Philadelphia has 13 players on fully guaranteed deals and now stand to bring 19 before the final roster cuts.

The Philadelphia 76ers add David Duke Jr. to their training camp pool
Duke Jr. spent two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets as one of their two-way players before inking a standard deal with them near the end of the previous campaign. However, the Nets declined to tender him a qualifying offer hich made him an unrestricted free agent.
The Providence alum failed to log significant NBA minutes, but actually turned in a standout season in the G-League with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s affiliate in the developmental league. Last season, he posted 22.9 points, six rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, garnering him All-NBA G-League First Team honors in the process.
Fans may not be too keen on the team’s sudden surplus of backcourt players, but James Harden’s unresolved situation has basically cudgeled the front office into fortifying their base behind him. More importantly, the 76ers have become warmer to the idea of developing players instead of solely relying on veteran commodities, making Duke Jr. a sensible addition even at this juncture.
However, to clinch a roster spot for himself, Duke Jr. will have to beat out the likes of the unproven Jaden Springer, the seldom-used Furkan Korkmaz, and even Green, who will have to prove that he can still be an effective contributor at his advanced age and coming off a major injury.
Now, the wait shouldn’t be much longer for Philadelphia fans as another potentially exciting season is on the horizon despite everything that has transpired for the franchise this offseason.
