Labor is discovering it’s not so easy managing the pandemic response now that they’re in charge, says Sky News host Chris Smith.
“It was very easy in 2020 and 2021, for the Labor Opposition to cane the Morrison Government for the way it handled multiple aspects of the pandemic,” Mr Smith said.
“But now that those same Labor figures are in control of pandemic measures – they’ve proven today how easy it is to get it wrong.”
Health Minister Mark Butler announced the rapid antigen test subsidy will end on July 31 – a scheme which saw low income earners able to purchase the COVID take-home tests for free.
“Health authorities have raised the alarm this week, about a fresh wave of COVID-19 infections,” he said.
“If we’re heading for another COVID peak, does it not make sense to extend that free RATs program for concession card holders, the vulnerable, until the end of winter?
“Mark Butler has got this wrong – the Government has got this wrong. It was easy to find fault in Opposition, it’s not so easy, when you’re in charge.”
