Italian outlet CMW report that Arsenal are readying a player-plus-cash offer to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur after missing out on the Brazilian in January – and including Lucas Torreira in the move.
Arthur, 25, was strongly linked with the Gunners in January but a move did not materialise. Their interest remains despite the imminent arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko, and the addition of Fabio Vieira from FC Porto.
Indeed, the Gunners are supposedly back in for Arthur. Reports earlier this week state that the Gunners have re-opened talks to land Juventus’ £66million signing. Now, Arsenal are said to be readying a player-plus-cash deal.
Sporting director Edu is said to be willing to include outcast Lucas Torreira in a move. A player that has already stated his intention to leave Arsenal. The ex-Sampdoria man was in Serie A last season, impressing at Fiorentina.
Other reports this summer stated that Torreira has been offered to Juventus – who are clearly in the market for a midfielder. One of the weaker positions in their squad, while Adrien Rabiot is likely to be on the move.
CMW state that Torreira is rated in the region of £8.5million and £13million. While it is not a dramatic reduction in terms of value, it might convince Juventus to accept a permanent exit should the cash offer be of their liking.
What is for certain, is that it is a move that suits all parties. Torreira wants to go, Arthur would surely like a fresh start after a tricky spell at Juventus. Juve want Torreira, Arsenal want Arthur. It makes sense from all points of view.
