The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is ready to prosecute the 10 people linked to the murders and attempted murders at the University of Fort Hare (UFH).
The accused were served with indictments in the Alice Magistrate’s Court, which states each of the accused and their alleged roles in the murders of the university’s fleet manager, Petrus Roets, in 2020 and Mboneni Vesele, the bodyguard to UFH vice-chancellor Professor Sakhela Buhlungu, in the beginning of last year.
The accused also face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, the attempted murder of Buhlungu, his deputy, Renuka Vithal, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
