“There’s a story” is the first response I get when inquiring about how the collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and entertainment company Kugali came about to create the groundbreaking series Iwájú.

Described as a ‘first-of-its-kind collaboration’ – Kugali is the first African production company to collaborate with the studio – the series set in a futurist Lagos, Nigeria, follows Tola, a young girl from a wealthy island, and her best friend, Kole, a self-taught tech expert, as they discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their different worlds.
