Both the Men and Women’s Media Owner Teams have taken home the trophy at the second annual UnLtd Big Clash industry cricket competition in Auckland.
Over 200 people across the industry came along to bat and bowl for good at Parnell Cricket club last Friday, to raise funds for UnLtd’s work to support charities helping children and young people at risk.
The Men’s games saw Agencies and Media Owners proceed to the finals, with Media Owners securing the win by nine runs. In the Women’s games, Media Owners battled it out against Agencies with Media Owners securing another win by four runs.
Players of the day were Hannah Moore from MediaWorks and Rhys Denny from MBM and the winners of the Fastest Batter in Adland competition by Cartology were Jesse Amiatu from Mindshare, recording a whopping 131 hits per minute and Hannah Moore from MediaWorks with 95 hits per minute.
Liam Crause, team captain for Men’s Media Owners Team said: “We’re honoured to take home the trophy – it was a tight match! It was great to get together with our usual competitors and put our differences aside for a day for such a good cause. We’ll be back next year to defend our trophy!”
The event, kindly sponsored by JCDecaux New Zealand and Cartology and supported by The Commercial Communications Council and IAB NZ, raises funds for UnLtd’s work to support charities helping children and young people at risk.
Phil Eastwood, General Manager of JCDecaux New Zealand said: “We love supporting UnLtd’s Big Clash event, it’s such a great way to connect with the industry over some healthy competition outdoors, and all for a good cause! The weather was beautiful, the cricket was competitive and the money raised was just fantastic. Congratulations to all the winners!”
Brendan Muller, General Manager New Zealand at UnLtd said: “What a day! We want to thank everyone who came along and helped make the second Big Clash such a great event. This event is a great example of a community coming together to make a difference. Whether you came to play cricket, umpire, score, volunteer, cheer your team or buy raffle tickets, or you donated prizes for the event – you’ve all helped make a big difference for young Kiwis at risk!”
The next UnLtd event in Auckland will be the UnLtd: Dodgeball competition on 13 June.
