Nathan Jones has revealed why Connor Wickham missed Charlton’s trip to Fleetwood Town.
The striker, who recently signed a short-term deal with the South Londoners, made his debut during last weekend’s 3-2 home win against Carlisle United but was absent for Saturday’s trip to the Fylde Coast.
Jones explained: “Last week he came on and tweaked his thigh slightly.
“We brought him up [to the north west], he trained yesterday but couldn’t go properly so we had to pull him. It’s a short-term, precautionary one.”
The Addicks handed a debut to another recent arrival with Kazenga LuaLua introduced from the bench in the closing stages.
Asked what Charlton fans can expect from the 33-year-old during his spell with the club, Jones said: “More than what we saw there. It was very late when he came on. I just thought if something fell to him he can shift and shoot and give us something.
“They all gave me everything today. We just needed to see the game out and we didn’t.”
