The Brooklyn Nets roster could look a lot different heading into the 2022-23 NBA season than it did when they were eliminated from the postseason by the Boston Celtics. Kevin Durant’s trade request has dominated the headlines, but he is far from the only player that could be on the move.
Ben Simmons may have to be included in a trade package for the Nets to maximize their value in a return for Durant. Another name to keep an eye on is point guard Kyrie Irving.
Before opting into his contract for the 2022-23 season, Irving canvassed the league to see what kind of offers were out there. He was seeking a long-term deal, but his market was not very robust. Once he opted into his contract, he was no longer eligible for a long-term deal.
However, there is still a chance that he is on the move. The Nets seem ready to move on from their All-Star duo should the right deal present itself. Trading Irving is certainly easier said than done, as the Los Angeles Lakers are the only team that has shown legitimate interest in acquiring him.

Other teams that were mentioned, such as the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and LA Clippers, would be hard to believe as landing spots for Irving. One team that could make some sense, however, is the Dallas Mavericks.
What could a deal between the Nets and Mavericks look like? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical deal that lands Irving in Dallas.
