Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi steered his old side Yanga SC, astonishingly, to back-to-back trebles. The 58-year-old is no stranger to success. He’s in pole position to claim another league title this term, with Botola Pro 1 side FAR Rabat in Morocco. They’re two wins away from the domestic crown but have Raja Casablanca breathing down their necks, just a point behind.
Former Yanga SC boss Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his desire to ‘put on a good show’ for the supporters to enjoy and shared the secret to his team’s productivity in front of goal this term. This revelation will be particularly pleasing for Kaizer Chiefs fans, who always demand entertaining, attack-minded football. The Glamour Boys only scored 25 times in 30 DStv Prem matches in 2023-2024. That’s an abysmal record.
PERFECTIONIST
Nasreddine Nabi insisted on bringing his technical staff with him when initial talks between him and Amakhosi took place in July. It points to a level of perfectionism and attention to detail that will serve him well in South Africa. The Chiefs board weren’t so happy about that condition but has reportedly relaxed their criteria and would potentially allow a new boss to bring his technical team along.
LOCAL OPTIONS OUT OF REACH
If Amakhosi’s top brass pursues a South African coach, reports indicate that Manqoba Mngqithi and Pitso Mosimane are at the top of that local list. With Mngqithi unavailable and happy in his current job, and a deal for Pitso always looking complicated, Nabi remains the best option. Pitso would also be very expensive.

Recent quotes won’t fill FAR Rabat fans with much hope. Although his current side is on course for the league title, Nabi sounds as though he’s ready for a new challenge. Taking charge of Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest challenges on the continent, if not the planet.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are in advanced talks with Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi to become their next head coach.
“You know there are other things which both parties need to agree on and that is what was discussed today. I can’t say how far it went today but the deal is very close at the moment. Coach Nabi has his own people who he wants to bring and the team is also providing some technical team members and that’s what they have to agree and compromise on. He wants his own assistant coach, goalkeeper coach and fitness trainer. I think if they can cross that bridge then the deal will be as good as done. But honestly speaking, the talks with coach Nabi are at an advanced stage now,” said the source.
