Soshanguve woman on trial for murder of ex-lover tells court they were having an affair

The woman who is accused of killing her former lover to use his body in place of her husband’s so she and her husband could cash in his life insurance policies revealed in court that she was having an affair with the deceased at the time of his death.

Lerato Mahlangu and her husband, Sibusiso, are on trial for the 2022 murder of Mahlangu’s ex-boyfriend, Sibusiso Sithebe, who was allegedly killed by the couple in a plot to lodge fraudulent insurance policy payouts.

Sithebe is also the father of Mahlangu’s child.
