Southwark’s Potters Field Park will be the rallying point for this year’s Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer sufferers.
The small park is next to Tower Bridge, where a walk was held last year for the same cause.
Thousands set to take part in 26 locations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, walking for a brighter future – a future free from dementia.
Across London and the South East, people can join thousands taking part in London Memory Walk – at Potters Fields Park on 6 October 2024.
Last year the walk raised over £249,000 to support people affected by dementia, thanks to the generosity and determination of the London Memory Walker’s.
Memory Walk season runs throughout September across the UK.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, with one in three people born in the UK today developing the condition. Every step taken and pound raised will help to fund Alzheimer’s Society’s vital dementia support and research.
The message from them is to walk for those you love, those you’ve lost and for everyone living with dementia. “By taking part in Memory Walk we can help to end the devastation caused by dementia,” the society says.
If you cannot attend an Alzheimer’s Society hosted walk, you can also choose to take on your own Memory Walk wherever you like, whenever you like.
Ranging from 2-10km routes, the sponsored walks are free to sign up to and open to all, from best friends to furry friends.
