Dortmund (dpa) – The German football team has reached the quarter finals of the European Championship in their own country. Under manager Julian Nagelsmann, the team beat Denmark 2:0 in Dortmund on Saturday evening. Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala were the scorers. Play was suspended in the 35th minute of the match due to a thunderstorm. In pouring rain the two teams returned to the dressing room. But the mood in the crowd remained relaxed. “It was a strange game,” said Nagelsmann. “We were outstanding at first. But then it was a game full of obstacles. But we fought well against it. We deserved to go through.” The quarter final takes place in Stuttgart this Friday. The opponents will be either Spain or Georgia.
Twenty four teams are competing for the title at Euro 2024. The final is on 14 July at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Euro 2024 matches are being held in ten cities throughout Germany.
