Scott Fraser is back in South London and featured during Charlton’s pre-season win at Dartford – but is he part of boss Nathan Jones’ long-term plans?
The 29-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan in his native Scotland with Hearts – a desire to be closer to his family in Dundee one of the reasons for the move.
The former Milton Keynes man joined the Addicks from Ipswich Town in January 2022 and is now in the final year of his contract.
Jones was appointed Addicks manager four days after Fraser made the temporary move north of the border.
The Charlton boss had previously told our paper that some of the members of last season’s squad needed to prove they can be part of plans moving forward during pre-season.
Fraser played the first-half at Princes Park, setting up the opening goal for Tyreece Campbell with a smart through ball.
When asked if Fraser was one he’d need to take a closer look at, Jones said: “We know where we are with Scott Fraser and other players. I know all about Scott Fraser. If I don’t know about him now then I’ve not been doing my research for the last 10 years. I know exactly where we are with our squad.
“We’ve brought in and strengthened the midfield area. So, anyone who wants to play in that midfield area has got to be aggressive, got to be right at it. Got to show real quality. If that’s Scott Fraser then fine.”
