Berlin (dpa) – According to a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the integration of immigrants has developed well in Germany as compared to other countries. Almost two thirds of immigrants who have lived in Germany for at least five years speak fluent German. “The differences in living conditions are often less marked than in other countries, and immigrants enjoy high rates of employment rates by international standards,” the OECD report states. “Integration in Germany is much better than its reputation,” said the Federal Government Commissioner for Integration, Reem Alabali-Radovan, also with regard to labour market integration. The employment rate among migrants is 70 percent, which is higher than in most analogue EU countries. “We’re very well positioned in Germany,” added Alabali-Radovan.
