A new open water swimming venue has been launched in the heart of London’s Canary Wharf
The swim course offers distances from 200m up to 600m, depending on weather conditions
The course is a partnership initiative between the Canal & River Trust, swimming operator Love Open Water and Canary Wharf Group
Called Love Open Water Canary Wharf, the venue is located in the wharf’s Middle Dock
A new open water swimming venue will has been launched in the heart of Canary Wharf, London, UK – one of Europe’s most prestigious office and commercial districts.
More than 600sq m of open water has been made available for swimmers through a partnership initiative between the Canal & River Trust, swimming operator Love Open Water and the Canary Wharf Group.
Called Love Open Water Canary Wharf, the venue is located in the Middle Dock, which is nestled among the hustle and bustle of the financial district.
The swim course offera distances from 200m up to 600m (out and back), depending on weather conditions.
The launch of the venue comes as UK is experiencing record-breaking temperatures, meaning the course is likely to be very popular among Canary Wharf’s office-based workers.
Access to Love Open Water Canary Wharf is located at Mackenzie Walk footbridge where a new pontoon and ladder have been installed, alongside changing cabins.
Swim sessions are available throughout the week and visitors are also being offered “fun and challenging events”.
Free sessions are organised through NOWCA Swim – a network of safe open water venues in the UK – with the aim of encouraging health and fitness through swimming.
“Water quality remains an important part of our commitment to swimmer safety,” NOWCA and Love Swim said in a statement.
“The water quality is tested regularly by independent experts and sent to a lab for certification.
“The latest test results for Middle Dock have shown excellent water quality in accordance with bathing water standards.
“The water will continue to be tested on a regular basis.
“As expected at all Love Open Water venues, every session at Canary Wharf will be lifeguarded and we welcome all swim abilities.
“The opening of this new venue will deliver new opportunities for the East London swimming community.”
