The Export Council for Medical Industries has appointed Dr. Mohamed Salah, CEO of ECC Cosmetics, as Undersecretary of the Council’s Cosmetics Division. This appointment is intended to leverage Dr. Salah’s extensive industry experience to support local Egyptian brands in reaching global markets, reflecting his commitment to advancing innovation and growth within Egypt’s cosmetics sector.
In his new role as Undersecretary of the Cosmetics Division, Dr. Salah aims to help Egyptian brands overcome export challenges and broaden their global presence while adhering to high standards of quality and innovation. His appointment is expected to elevate Egypt’s position as a regional leader in the cosmetics industry, opening new avenues for international growth and expansion.
Dr. Salah expressed his enthusiasm for his appointment, stating, “This role is a crucial opportunity to enhance the global standing of Egyptian products and to help local brands address export challenges. It also aims to strengthen cooperation between local and international companies.”
He added, “We are continuously innovating because we believe that innovation is key to global success. Furthermore, we are committed to empowering the new generation of creators in the cosmetics industry. I will work to provide them with the opportunities they need to realize their dreams and expand their horizons in this field.”
Dr. Salah is a prominent figure in the cosmetics and nutritional supplements fields, leading ECC, a group that has become a significant force in the industry. ECC’s journey began in 1981 with a small laboratory founded by Dr. Salah’s father, which laid the groundwork for ECC’s success today. Guided by his father’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Dr. Salah and his friend Dr. Ahmed Aboul Hamayel, a seasoned expert in cosmetics sales and marketing since 2002 and the CEO of Infinity Clinic Pharma and Vision Cosmetics, have been instrumental in ECC’s growth and diversification.
Together, they expanded ECC into a broad network of activities encompassing six advanced factories, including three dedicated to cosmetics; SmartPack plastic factory, ECC Nutrition Hub for nutritional supplements, and a recently acquired aerosol factory. These facilities produce over 120 million units annually, serving clients in over 30 countries and securing ECC a market share exceeding 70% in the local cosmetics industry. ECC provides world-class production services, manufacturing for over 800 brands, solidifying its reputation as a trusted partner for both local and international brands.
ECC also prioritizes community support as a driving force in Egypt’s cosmetics industry. Last month, ECC launched an initiative to empower SMEs in the beauty sector, aiming to enable 14 promising brands to achieve local market success, a pathway ECC has paved for numerous brands in previous years. The initiative offers comprehensive services, including advanced product formulation, brand enhancement, innovative packaging solutions, professional-scale manufacturing, legal facilitation, and product registration with the Ministry of Health.Additionally, the initiative supports sales opportunities through the Source Beauty digital platform.
Dr. Salah’s appointment marks a strategic step toward advancing Egypt’s standing in the cosmetics industry, ensuring a bright future for the sector both locally and internationally.
