Once a single parent student, Betsy Baker of Rose Law Firm intimately knows the struggles of juggling parenthood, school, and work. She’s used that experience to serve Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund as Board President.
For two years, she’s balanced budgets and supported fundraisers. She attended scholarship ceremonies, penned legal letters, and presided over meetings. She even worked on ASPSF’s new mission, vision, and values along with a bold strategic plan.

As she steps back to her new role on the board, Past President, ASPSF has named Betsy the January 2024 Volunteer of The Month to thank her for her countless hours leading the organization.
“Betsy’s passion has been contagious, and her impact, immeasurable,” ASPSF Executive Director Ruthanne Hill said. “I’m grateful for her selfless service, guidance, and unwavering support to single parents.”
Betsy became involved with SPSF Pulaski County several years ago after meeting local supporters and learning how the organization provided not only scholarships but also resources and mentoring to single parents.

The mission struck a chord. Betsy had raised her now-adult son as a single mom while earning her bachelor’s in journalism, working as a reporter, and later studying to become a lawyer. Today, she’s a tenacious litigator with numerous accolades.
“I understand the power of education to dramatically improve almost every aspect of one’s life as well as their families,” Betsy said. “I wanted to be able to use my voice to help impress on others the outsized impact this organization has on families here in Arkansas.”
Thank you, Betsy, for guiding ASPSF into the future! Since 2019 when you joined the ASPSF Board, your vision, passion, and tireless efforts have left an enduring mark, shaping our mission and impacting countless lives.
