Nabi forced to take U-turn on Kaizer Chiefs star

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly opted against releasing a player who was destined to leave the club next month.

According to the latest transfer gossip from Naturena, Edmilson Dove will be given a final chance to impress.

Dove, who’s on his road to recovery, was set to be axed by the club. However an injury crisis, coupled with a fragile defence in general, has forced Nabi to keep the Mozambican until at least the end of the season.

“They need an experienced left back who can work with Happy Mashiane at the moment since Bradley (Cross) is still recovering from his respective injury,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.

“Yes, Dove is also still recovering but he is very close to playing and that is why they have put his release on hold for now. I can’t say what will happen at the end of the season because his contract at Kaizer Chiefs is ending in June 2025.

“So, instead of him being released in January as previously believed they are holding onto him to see that the other left backs come back.”

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has endured a difficult start to life at Naturena.

The Tunisian tactician joined the Glamour Boys with high expectations however things haven’t gone exactly to plan thus far.

Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup by rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the second round.

Furthermore, Nabi’s side have struggled in the league, picking up just 12 points from their opening 9 matches.

Nabi remains committed to Kaizer Chiefs job

According to the latest reports, Nasreddine Nabi has rejected an approach from Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca as remains committed to Kaizer Chiefs!

“Earlier this week, the Moroccan club’s hierarchy is said to have reached out to Nabi’s management team. However, Nabi’s management team made it clear that he was fully committed to his project at Chiefs,” a FARPost report read.
