Nikola Vucevic latest stance on Chicago Bulls future as NBA trade deadline approaches

Nikola Vucevic is looking beyond the trade deadline, as his future with the Chicago Bulls could be up in the air.

The Chicago Bulls made a big move this weekend as they traded away Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings. The Bulls were criticized for not getting a first-round pick in return.

However, them moving LaVine makes it clear they don’t intend to compete in the near future. The Bulls had been rumored to moving their key players ahead of the deadline.

And so far, they have done exactly that. However, Nikola Vucevic‘s future is up in the air. The Lakers recently decided against trading for the Montenegrin big.

Vucevic did want to move, even detailing what he wants from his next team. However, he has seemingly changed his tune on the matter.

Nikola Vucevic expects to stay in Chicago

In an updated report, Nikola Vucevic is prepared to stay with the Chicago Bulls. K.C. Johnson noted that potential moves for Vucevic and the Bulls seem unlikely now.

“As for latest Bulls trade chatter, everything is fluid but the optimism for more moves that surfaced Monday dried up some on Tuesday.”

“Nikola Vucevic is now prepared to be here past the deadline as Warriors have shifted attention to bigger targets, including Kevin Durant.”

Vucevic was linked to the Golden State Warriors as well, but they have decided to look elsewhere. And if they want to go for Kevin Durant, landing Vucevic is not a good idea.

Nikola Vucevic could move in the summer

Nikola Vucevic not being traded right now doesn’t guarantee him staying with the Bulls long-term. With the trade deadline, a lot of teams are struggling for assets.

As a result, trading for Vucevic is very difficult. But that doesn’t mean that a team can’t trade for him in the summer.

The trade window re-opens later this year. And a team looking for an experienced big who can put up strong numbers could turn to Vucevic.

He is currently averaging 19.7 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. If he improves his numbers further for the rest of the season, he could be a big get for any team.
