Paul Rudd is playing coy to his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Russo Brothers begin filming Avengers: Doomsday.
In a recent interview while promoting his new movie Death of a Unicorn, the actor who plays Ant-Man in the MCU addressed his return to the superhero role.
“As far as the Russos, they have my number. They know where I’m at, and that’s all I can say. I don’t really know how to play these things,” Rudd told Collider.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026, and filming is expected to begin in London in the coming weeks.
As with everything Marvel, the story and which actors will be part of the fifth installment of the Avengers franchise are being kept top secret. However, one thing for sure is that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, not Iron Man. Disney announced at Comic-Con last year that the actor would play Victor Von Doom in the next two Avengers movies, which the Russo brothers will direct.

The Russo brothers will also direct the sixth installment of the Marvel movie Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to be released in May 2027. One thing the duo is doing to combat any leaks and spoilers for the highly anticipated films is to choose locations where paparazzi can’t easily spot them.
“We’re pretty good about shutting that down,” Joe Russo told Collider in an interview with Anthony Russo adding, “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that.”
Joe admitted that a lot of the filming would be done in soundstages, saying, “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.”
For scenes outside, Anthony said, “The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind, as well.”
