Actor James Van Der Beek has died at age 48, according to a post by his wife Kimberley on Instagram.
“He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,” she wrote.
“There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come.
“For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
No cause of death has been given but Van Der Beek was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023.
Van Der Beek shot to fame as the titular Dawson Leery in teen drama Dawson’s Creek in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning the role at just 20.
